Ferryton
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Leek's Cliff Hehir started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Chris Auckland got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 4 minutes, Ed Medley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ferryton and the Leek players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 4th match minute, Ferryton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ed Medley to maneuver through the defense. In the 6th match minute, Ferryton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victor Parks to maneuver through the defense. Devon Timiney showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cliff Hehir, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cliff Hehir in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Devon Timiney prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 22 minutes into the game, Leek's Chris Auckland nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Devon Timiney made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Brendon Booker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Phil Braithwaite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Leek getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Lewis Pye-Finch hit a great ball. Devon Timiney showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chris Auckland, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Devon Timiney stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cliff Hehir's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. When Andre Connery fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ferryton's protests and gave Andre Connery a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Leek booed when Ferryton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andre Connery didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Leek fans' excitement grew in the 40th match minute when Leek's Cliff Hehir looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Chris Auckland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Devon Timiney having to interfere. The Ferryton players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Leek were winning 0-2.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Brendon Booker was the one to do the kick off. Brendon Booker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phil Braithwaite having to interfere. If Chris Auckland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62ndth minute of the game Cliff Hehir who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ferryton's Devon Timiney was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Chris Auckland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cliff Hehir received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Devon Timiney tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 76 minutes into the match, Ferryton's goalkeeper Devon Timiney had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lewis Pye-Finch. The supporters of Ferryton booed when Leek was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lenny Green didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Chris Auckland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phil Braithwaite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brendon Booker in the 95th minute of play. Sean Hinshelwood recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sean Hinshelwood in the 97th minute of play forced Leek's goalkeeper Phil Braithwaite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Billie Burns charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Billie Burns the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Leek played a much better game than Ferryton and deserved their victory. The Ferryton players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
