Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) An unexpectedly hard shot by Gwyn North in the 3rd minute of play forced Haydock AFC's goalkeeper Matty Gulliver to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matty Gulliver showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gwyn North in the 6th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tristram Downes during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of oldham united booed when Haydock AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tristram Downes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gwyn Davis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Matty Gulliver tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Duncan England had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matty Gulliver didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gwyn North went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Haydock AFC's Matty Gulliver played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gwyn Davis in the 29th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gwyn Davis in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matty Gulliver saved Haydock AFC from getting behind. oldham united's Scott Sutton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mickey Bartrup in the 34th minute of play. Scott Sutton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alf Barton in the 37th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, oldham united's Duncan England got a free kick in the 41st minute. After the first half oldham united were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gwyn Davis made a kick off. Duncan England scored 0-2 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Matty Gulliver, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 67 played minutes Duncan England rounded Haydock AFC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alf Barton in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Scott Sutton saved oldham united from getting behind. Scott Sutton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastien Swallow, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Gwyn Davis managed to get in a good position for a shot. oldham united's supporters rose to their feet, but Gwyn Davis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matty Gulliver breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gwyn Davis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Matty Gulliver tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Haydock AFC's goalkeeper Matty Gulliver, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Matty Gulliver was a little too slow when Gwyn Davis got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 82nd minute. The score was now 0-4. Matty Gulliver made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duncan England in the 88th minute of play. Gwyn Davis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Matty Gulliver made a huge save. Gwyn Davis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpected shot in the 93rd minute by Gwyn Davis got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. oldham united had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
