After having played for 2 minutes, Tristan Jones managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Porthcurno United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tristan Jones was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Porthcurno United's Verne Anderson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerome Scrivener in the 10th minute of play. After having played for 11 minutes, Cliff Boyd managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Porthcurno United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cliff Boyd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Verne Anderson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jerome Scrivener in the 17th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Jerome Scrivener kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Verne Anderson. That made the score 1-0 in the 24 minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Cliff Boyd had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Louis Theakston. Staines FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cliff Boyd was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 40 minutes into the match, Porthcurno United's goal looked a bit too open when Jerome Scrivener came free, but Verne Anderson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Porthcurno United's Ben Rowell got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cliff Boyd to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Staines FC booed when Porthcurno United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tristan Jones didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bart Coulshaw fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Verne Anderson having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Jerome Scrivener managed to get in a good position for a shot. Staines FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jerome Scrivener was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Verne Anderson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 60th minute, Bart Coulshaw hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Verne Anderson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bart Coulshaw, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 66th minute Alastair Rayner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Verne Anderson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Verne Anderson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danny Moxey in the 68th minute of the match. Jerome Scrivener struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Verne Anderson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Staines FC. After 75 played minutes Porthcurno United got a freekick which was hit by Lance Kelly. Louis Theakston made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Frank Knight sent off a good shot on target. Verne Anderson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danny Moxey in the 79th minute of the match. In the 82nd minute Danny Moxey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Verne Anderson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Knight kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. In the 89th minute Alastair Rayner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Verne Anderson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 91st minute, Alastair Rayner left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Staines FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Staines FC had played much better football throughout.
