Brynn Endean made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Ian Bonds sent off a good shot on target. FK Steaua Bucharest's Ian Bonds got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alexander Osmond took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 25th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tommy Fitzsymon. FK Steaua Bucharest's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Vincent Stonehouse recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Jack Beadle fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FK Steaua Bucharest's protests and gave Jack Beadle a yellow card for diving instead. Jack Beadle hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Vincent Stonehouse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tommy Fitzsymon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ivor Tetley went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Ian Soussan hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Tommy Fitzsymon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivor Tetley, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. When MANSFIELD ROYALE's Ivor Tetley in 46 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Tommy Fitzsymon guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Louis Fleetham in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brynn Endean prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Louis Fleetham was the one to do the kick off. Denzil Dowrick's late challenge caught a MANSFIELD ROYALE's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Denzil Dowrick helped the player get up and apologised. Dennis Gettins was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 62nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Deon Sharples was shown his second yellow card after 68 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Deon Sharples kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Brynn Endean made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ian Bonds in the 75th minute of play. Buster Lampard struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Tommy Fitzsymon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MANSFIELD ROYALE. Ivor Tetley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Fitzsymon having to interfere. After 89 played minutes MANSFIELD ROYALE got a freekick which was hit by Ivor Tetley. Ivor Tetley might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tommy Fitzsymon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ivor Tetley ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vincent Stonehouse got free with Tommy Fitzsymon in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ian Bonds sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. MANSFIELD ROYALE had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
