Spectators: 6736 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1736, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Buster Dowrick took the kick off in the first half of the match. Don Newland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 6 minutes into the game, Rueben Pelc cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Graeme Simpson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Wolf City's Buster Dowrick got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Leigh Housham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cullompton's supporters rose to their feet, but Leigh Housham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Graeme Simpson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Wolf City's zone, Rueben Pelc stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Graeme Simpson came out of the goal and Rueben Pelc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rueben Pelc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Graeme Simpson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leigh Housham in the 18th minute of play forced Wolf City's goalkeeper Graeme Simpson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wolf City's Graeme Simpson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leigh Housham in the 20th minute of play. A collision led to Wolf City getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Howard Stobbs hit a great ball. Leigh Housham blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Graeme Simpson having to make a save. Cullompton's Rueben Pelc managed to work through Wolf City's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Rueben Pelc dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Don Newland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Graeme Simpson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rueben Pelc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Damon Kemp kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. When Don Newland came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Wolf City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Don Newland couldn't finish the play. 45 minutes into the game, Buster Dowrick recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Larry Huckerby. Buster Dowrick showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leigh Housham stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Larry Huckerby stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Buster Dowrick's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. The corner ended in Howard Stobbs almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Cullompton's Larry Huckerby did a great save. Rueben Pelc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Graeme Simpson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rueben Pelc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 67th minute, Christian Theakston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 70 minutes, Buster Dowrick managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wolf City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Buster Dowrick was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leigh Housham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Graeme Simpson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rueben Pelc could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Graeme Simpson made a huge save. In the 80th match minute, Wolf City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bill Greenwood to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute, Leigh Housham reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Graeme Simpson. The goal made the score 1-2. 95 minutes into the match, Cullompton's goal looked a bit too open when Buster Dowrick came free, but Larry Huckerby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 98 minutes into the match, Wolf City's goal looked a bit too open when Leigh Housham came free, but Graeme Simpson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Cullompton walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
