Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Stefan Wardman kicked off to start the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 2nd minute, David Hulbert managed to get in a good position for a shot. gateshead express's supporters rose to their feet, but David Hulbert was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tyler Bassett breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Freddie Wagstaff lost his temper 9 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 9 minutes into the game, one of st helens town:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Jimmy Pennant took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tyler Bassett. Tyler Bassett dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rhys Waller got free with Tyler Bassett in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rhys Waller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Tyler Bassett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute David Hulbert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tyler Bassett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, st helens town's Tyler Bassett got control of the ball when Rhys Waller tried to sneak it across the goal line. David Hulbert had several of the st helens town's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 26 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Tyler Bassett as he didn't even see the shot coming. Bart Hatcher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Byron Peat in the 29th minute of play. Ricky Groves might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bart Hatcher. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ricky Groves ran back to his position shaking his head. 32 minutes into the game, Freddie Stubbs was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. gateshead express's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave st helens town the free kick. Freddie Stubbs hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Bart Hatcher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricky Groves in the 34th minute of play. Tyler Bassett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rhys Waller in the 35th minute of the match. Byron Peat hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 42nd minute, Reuben Rushmere hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, st helens town's Jon Soussan got a free kick in the 45th minute. Jon Soussan hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice moves Rhys Waller could shoot a difficult shot in the 47th minute, which Tyler Bassett however easily saved by the left post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

gateshead express's Bart Hatcher proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save gateshead express from getting a goal against them. Jon Soussan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Bart Hatcher tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tyler Bassett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rhys Waller, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. David Hulbert's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tyler Bassett read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. But to his dismay, Rhys Waller quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Jon Soussan charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jon Soussan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 75th minute, Jon Soussan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 76 minutes into the match, gateshead express's Jimmy Pennant broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a defensive mix-up in gateshead express's zone, Ricky Groves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bart Hatcher came out of the goal and Ricky Groves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 83 played minutes gateshead express got a freekick which was hit by Freddie Stubbs. 85 minutes into the game, David Hulbert cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Tyler Bassett was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rhys Waller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Tyler Bassett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. st helens town's Tyler Bassett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rhys Waller in the 92nd minute of play.
