In the 28th minute, Liam Myers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 33 minutes into the game, Liam Myers recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bart Hatcher. Liam Myers showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, gateshead express's Jude Brennan got a free kick in the 39th minute. After a defensive mix-up in gateshead express's zone, Liam Myers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bart Hatcher came out of the goal and Liam Myers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and David Hulbert made a kick off. Jimmy Pennant kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the game, Buster Heath cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Bart Hatcher was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Liam Myers sped through gateshead express's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bart Hatcher. Bart Hatcher stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Liam Myers's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. 72 minutes into the match, David Hulbert dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Kris Langford, 3-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Buster Heath in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bart Hatcher saved gateshead express from getting behind. When the match clock showed 89 minutes, the score became 4-2 when Buster Heath sped through gateshead express's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bart Hatcher. In the 93rd minute of the match Harry McGovern sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bart Hatcher skillfully saved the ball. Buster Heath received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Bart Hatcher tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
