The supporters of black unitide booed when Harpenden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marek Beerman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tosh Oliver lost his temper 34 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After a rather tough play, black unitide's Duncan Fordham got a free kick in the 37th minute. A collision led to black unitide getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Teddy Cooper hit a great ball. Duncan Fordham charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Duncan Fordham the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 43rd match minute, black unitide was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duncan Fordham to maneuver through the defense. Through an outstanding action, after 48 minutes, Adam Cotton successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Barry Bacon made a kick off. Duncan Fordham blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adam Cotton having to make a save. In the 55th match minute, black unitide was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Don Fenwick to maneuver through the defense. Adam Cotton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teddy Cooper in the 59th minute of the match. Duncan Fordham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brian Bayne made an important save on a dangerous shot by Russ Gordon in the 64th minute. Ivan Burton didn't quite understand what happened when in the 67 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Duncan Fordham hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Brian Bayne made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Russ Gordon sent off a good shot on target. In the 74th minute, Barry Bacon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Adam Cotton was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Barry Bacon in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adam Cotton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 79 minutes, Barry Bacon made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Harpenden's Adam Cotton tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Adam Cotton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barry Bacon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Harpenden defense, Duncan Fordham kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adam Cotton. The Harpenden fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adam Cotton should have stopped the shot. Harpenden's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
