The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tim Meade was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Ely getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Pete Nicholson hit a great ball. Phillip Redwood-Turner didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kris Renner went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After having played for 67 minutes, Tim Meade managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Old Bexley City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tim Meade was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Andy Kenworthy in the 68thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Lawrence Howlett, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Quentin Hutchings during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 72nd match minute, Ely was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quentin Hutchings to maneuver through the defense. Lawrence Howlett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tim Meade in the 77th minute of the match. John Cooper hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Phillip Redwood-Turner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kris Renner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Phillip Redwood-Turner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kris Renner, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Micheal Winship was shown his second yellow card after 90 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 91 played minutes Old Bexley City got a freekick which was hit by Micheal Winship. Andy Kenworthy struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Lawrence Howlett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Old Bexley City. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ely fans cheered their team off the field, for while Old Bexley City had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
