Rodd Brooks's late challenge caught a Ripon FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodd Brooks helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to mliavn getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Rodd Brooks hit a great ball. Archie Barratt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Brough having to interfere. Franz Gamble came free with the goalkeeper in the 8th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and John-Paul Brough could save by the left post. John-Paul Brough made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Franz Gamble sent off a good shot on target. If Ricky Welch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tom Sugden in the 17th minute of play forced mliavn's goalkeeper John-Paul Brough to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonny Claydon lost his temper 19 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 18th minute, one of mliavn:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for mliavn. Jeff Mayo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenny Downes having to interfere. If Tom Sugden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th minute, Tom Sugden left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ripon FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Rodd Brooks kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. In the 44th minute Phil Ashton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John-Paul Brough saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Garth Aiston made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Ripon FC's Ivan Brighton got a free kick in the 53rd minute. After 59 minutes of play, Ripon FC's Archie Barratt made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. John-Paul Brough was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ripon FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
