Polonia Gloucester's Les Rathmell got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 14 played minutes Aldershot Titans FC got a freekick which was hit by Billy Drake. If Stefan Oates had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gerry Browne stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stefan Oates's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Aldershot Titans FC's Stefan Oates got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Gaz Kellaway managed to get in a good position for a shot. Polonia Gloucester's supporters rose to their feet, but Gaz Kellaway was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Childs breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stefan Oates hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Les Rathmell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. David Childs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gaz Kellaway sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gaz Kellaway fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Childs having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gaz Kellaway to make the kick off. If Gaz Kellaway had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joe Scott kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Edward Newland, 61 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stefan Oates in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gerry Browne prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Polonia Gloucester's Les Rathmell got a free kick in the 64th minute. Hayden Avery recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 67 minutes, Stefan Oates made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Polonia Gloucester's Gerry Browne tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Aldershot Titans FC's Stefan Oates slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gerry Browne. That made the score 0-2 after 71 minutes of play. Stefan Oates charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stefan Oates the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Polonia Gloucester booed when Aldershot Titans FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stefan Oates didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaz Kellaway in the 88th minute of play forced Aldershot Titans FC's goalkeeper David Childs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Aldershot Titans FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Aldershot Titans FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
