Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Austen Stone started the match with the kick off. Dave Markinson took the ball and in the 3 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alfred Hunt. Alfred Hunt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Alfred Hunt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martyn Hatcher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Austen Stone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Eddy Sheppard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfred Hunt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martyn Hatcher in the 19th minute of the match. After 22 played minutes Liverpool FC got a freekick which was hit by Martyn Hatcher. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Austen Stone in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eddy Sheppard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 26th minute, Austen Stone left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The South Benfleet FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. A collision led to Liverpool FC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Gary Story-Moore hit a great ball. Eddy Sheppard made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Danny Humphreys sent off a good shot on target. In the 35th minute Austen Stone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eddy Sheppard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute Bruce Lamb shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfred Hunt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gary Story-Moore's late challenge caught a South Benfleet FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gary Story-Moore helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Liverpool FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Gary Story-Moore hit a great ball. In the 43rd minute, Martyn Hatcher left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Liverpool FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 47th match minute, South Benfleet FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barrie Beevers to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dave Markinson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Austen Stone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ian Barratt kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Eddy Sheppard came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by South Benfleet FC's Austen Stone. But to his dismay, Austen Stone quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. After 63 played minutes Liverpool FC got a freekick which was hit by Bruce Lamb. Alistair Kirk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddy Sheppard having to interfere. After 67 minutes of play, Liverpool FC's Bruce Lamb made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alfred Hunt was left in no man's land by his defense there! Eddy Sheppard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Austen Stone, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. 75 minutes into the game, Bruce Lamb was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liverpool FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave South Benfleet FC the free kick. Eddy Sheppard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Austen Stone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 80 minutes, Austen Stone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. South Benfleet FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Austen Stone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alfred Hunt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dave Markinson, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute.
