Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Tyler Rocastle started the match with the kick off. Micheal Sawyer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Jason Breeden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 6 minutes into the match, Newnham's goalkeeper Jason Breeden had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gav Plumber. 11 minutes into the game, Rodney Searle was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ironville United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newnham the free kick. The supporters of Newnham booed when Ironville United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodney Searle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gav Plumber's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jason Breeden read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. If Micheal Sawyer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Micheal Sawyer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tyler Rocastle kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Martyn Fleetwood was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 25th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Micheal Sawyer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Breeden having to interfere. If Gav Plumber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the match, Ironville United's Micheal Sawyer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jason Breeden narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jason Breeden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Micheal Sawyer in the 36th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Newnham's Marc Beevers got a free kick in the 38th minute. Martyn Fleetwood, 39 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 40 minutes into the game, Tyler Rocastle was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newnham's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ironville United the free kick. Tyler Rocastle kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Micheal Sawyer might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jason Breeden. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Micheal Sawyer ran back to his position shaking his head. Micheal Sawyer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Micheal Sawyer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Micheal Sawyer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jason Breeden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Micheal Sawyer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Breeden having to interfere. When Gav Plumber came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Ironville United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gav Plumber couldn't finish the play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Newnham fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 65th minute. Penalty! Gav Plumber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Breeden having to interfere. In the 70th match minute, Newnham was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dean Grayson to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 83 minutes, Micheal Sawyer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ironville United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Micheal Sawyer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gav Plumber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Jason Breeden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jason Breeden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gav Plumber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Micheal Sawyer blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jason Breeden having to make a save. Jason Breeden showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Micheal Sawyer in the 94th minute of the match. Gav Plumber struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Jason Breeden didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ironville United. Jason Breeden showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gav Plumber in the 98th minute of the match.
