Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Bob Mabbutt got the match started through his kick off. Denholme City's Niall Darby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronnie Ottaway in the 15th minute of play. After 16 played minutes Denholme City got a freekick which was hit by Joseph Goodman. Roger Holt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Niall Darby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Sean Gaskell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Mangotsfield defense, Dale Peat kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albert Pettifer. The Mangotsfield fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albert Pettifer should have stopped the shot. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mangotsfield's goalkeeper Albert Pettifer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

After 51 minutes, Tyrone Hislop mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mangotsfield and the Denholme City players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 51st match minute, Mangotsfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tyrone Hislop to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Mangotsfield's Albert Pettifer got control of the ball when Dale Peat tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Mangotsfield's zone, Sean Gaskell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albert Pettifer came out of the goal and Sean Gaskell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mangotsfield's Bob Mabbutt got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 69th minute, Brynn Croxford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roger Holt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Mangotsfield's zone, Sean Gaskell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albert Pettifer came out of the goal and Sean Gaskell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Scott Ansell charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Scott Ansell the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 88 played minutes Denholme City got a freekick which was hit by Scott Ansell.
