Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Isaac Kingston started the match with the kick off. 7 minutes into the match, Derby United's goal looked a bit too open when Isaac Kingston came free, but Wally Findley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Caleb Colt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wally Findley having to make a save. In the 15thth minute of the game Caleb Colt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Derby United's Wally Findley was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Johnny Coombe in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Damon Hird prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Ridgeway Rovers booed when Derby United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Phimister didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th match minute, Ridgeway Rovers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leigh Widdrington to maneuver through the defense. In the 28th minute Johnny Coombe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damon Hird saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wally Findley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isaac Kingston, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Isaac Kingston in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wally Findley saved Derby United from getting behind. Daniel Phimister could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Damon Hird made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Phimister got free with Damon Hird in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Johnny Coombe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Derby United's supporters rose to their feet, but Johnny Coombe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damon Hird breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 40th minute, Daniel Phimister got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Casey Burnett's late challenge caught a Derby United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. If Daniel Phimister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee ignored Derby United's protests and gave Eric Button a yellow card for diving instead. Eric Button kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Daniel Phimister managed to get in a good position for a shot. Derby United's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Phimister was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damon Hird breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
