Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Ridgeway Rovers's Isaac Kingston in the 7th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Robbie Osbourne was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Westhoughton City through an amazing save. In the 8th minute, Kurt Morcom hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 11th minute Isaac Kingston shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robbie Osbourne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isaac Kingston fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robbie Osbourne having to interfere. If Kurt Morcom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the match, Ridgeway Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Rod Goodall came free, but Damon Hird reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Caleb Colt took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Robbie Osbourne. Robbie Osbourne dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Isaac Cartwright blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Damon Hird having to make a save. Rod Goodall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damon Hird having to interfere. When Des Roberts fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ridgeway Rovers's protests and gave Des Roberts a yellow card for diving instead. In the 45th match minute, Ridgeway Rovers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Des Roberts to maneuver through the defense. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Isaac Kingston to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ridgeway Rovers's goalkeeper Damon Hird, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Isaac Kingston put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Robbie Osbourne. Isaac Cartwright could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Damon Hird made a huge save. With a little luck, Ridgeway Rovers's Damon Hird got control of the ball when Isaac Cartwright tried to sneak it across the goal line. Damon Hird stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rod Goodall's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leigh Widdrington during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 80 played minutes Ridgeway Rovers got a freekick which was hit by Leigh Widdrington. Ridgeway Rovers's Damon Hird proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Ridgeway Rovers from getting a goal against them. Damon Hird took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rod Goodall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Westhoughton City's Rod Goodall slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Damon Hird. That made the score 2-1 after 86 minutes of play. Ridgeway Rovers's Damon Hird played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rod Goodall in the 90th minute of play. When Isaac Kingston came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Ridgeway Rovers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isaac Kingston couldn't finish the play. 94 minutes into the match, Westhoughton City's goal looked a bit too open when Caleb Colt came free, but Robbie Osbourne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ridgeway Rovers fans cheered their team off the field, for while Westhoughton City had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
