Tim Granville was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 10 minutes into the game, Charlie Stevens cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Gav Ferdinand was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. HEELABY's Sam Watkinson got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sonny Mullen charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sonny Mullen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Ince AFC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Sonny Mullen hit a great ball. After some careless play in the HEELABY defense, Bob Kitchen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gav Ferdinand. The HEELABY fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gav Ferdinand should have stopped the shot. 26 minutes into the match, Bob Kitchen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gav Ferdinand. HEELABY's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bob Kitchen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. 31 minutes into the match, HEELABY's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathon Kershaw came free, but Gav Ferdinand reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sam Watkinson hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Gav Ferdinand showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonathon Kershaw in the 35th minute of the match. In the 36th minute, Vernon Pelc hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 37th minute, Verne Doughty got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Ince AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Sam Watkinson came free, but Tim Granville reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tim Granville made an important save on a dangerous shot by Graeme Shakespeare in the 43rd minute. After some careless play in the Ince AFC defense, Graeme Shakespeare kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tim Granville. The Ince AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tim Granville should have stopped the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bob Kitchen to make the kick off. Graeme Shakespeare sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute, Robert Jeffrey left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The HEELABY fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. 66 minutes into the match, Ince AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Sam Watkinson came free, but Tim Granville reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gav Ferdinand was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jonathon Kershaw showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-4 in the 68 minute of play. Tim Granville took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ian Sansom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 90 minutes into the match, Ince AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Graeme Shakespeare came free, but Tim Granville reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, Ian Sansom had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tim Granville. Ince AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ian Sansom was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-4. Ince AFC's Tim Granville played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Jeffrey in the 97th minute of play. In the 99th minute, Sam Watkinson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. HEELABY fully deserved thier win.
