Tod Walters hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charlie Graydon in the 21st minute of play forced HEELABY's goalkeeper Gav Ferdinand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd minute, Johnny Coombe made a precise shot to the right of Gav Ferdinand. HEELABY's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. 26 minutes into the match, Charlie Graydon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gav Ferdinand. HEELABY's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Charlie Graydon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. HEELABY's Gav Ferdinand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Button in the 33rd minute of play. Jacob Brearley hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Derby United's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Allan Turner 35 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-3. Daniel Phimister kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Wally Findley didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kristopher Barber went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. In the 45th minute, Kristopher Barber made a precise shot to the right of Wally Findley. Derby United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-3. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kristopher Barber was the one to do the kick off. A sloppy throw-in by Tod Walters in the 52nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by HEELABY's Vernon Pelc. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johnny Coombe in the 59th minute of play forced HEELABY's goalkeeper Gav Ferdinand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gav Ferdinand was out of position in the 59 minute of play, and Johnny Coombe capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Johnny Coombe really showed his touch with that goal: 5-4. Robert Jeffrey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Wally Findley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Derby United's goal looked a bit too open when Kristopher Barber came free, but Wally Findley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th minute, Derby United's Johnny Coombe ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gav Ferdinand. Gav Ferdinand yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-5. When Sam Watkinson fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored HEELABY's protests and gave Sam Watkinson a yellow card for diving instead. HEELABY's Gav Ferdinand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnny Coombe in the 74th minute of play. In the 76th minute Sam Watkinson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wally Findley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. HEELABY's Gav Ferdinand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stan Nicholson in the 78th minute of play. 79 minutes into the game, Charlie Graydon recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gav Ferdinand. Charlie Graydon showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-6. 83 minutes into the game, one of HEELABY:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Gav Ferdinand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eric Button in the 91st minute of play. Gav Ferdinand showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charlie Graydon in the 93rd minute of the match.
