Seating: 1747, VIP seats: 151) When Ashton-in-Makerfield City's Martin Crichton in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Salford FC's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to Ashton-in-Makerfield City getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Andre Carter hit a great ball. Rueben Hanson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominic Kellaway in the 9th minute of the match. Dominic Kellaway recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 11 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Salford FC! Rueben Hanson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Crichton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Dominic Kellaway had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Keiran Gill's late challenge caught a Salford FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Keiran Gill helped the player get up and apologised. Keiran Gill hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Martin Crichton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rueben Hanson having to interfere. After 33 minutes, Dominic Kellaway mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ashton-in-Makerfield City and the Salford FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Salford FC booed when Ashton-in-Makerfield City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dominic Kellaway didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute Dominic Kellaway shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rueben Hanson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dominic Kellaway had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martin Crichton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dominic Kellaway in the 47th minute of play forced Salford FC's goalkeeper Rueben Hanson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Ashton-in-Makerfield City were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rueben Rowling to make the kick off. Salford FC's Rueben Hanson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Salford FC from getting a goal against them. An unexpected shot in the 54th minute by Dominic Kellaway got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 54th match minute, Salford FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Loyd Wilberforce to maneuver through the defense. 55 minutes into the match, Ashton-in-Makerfield City's William Gerrard broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. If Martin Crichton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With an all-out effort, Ashton-in-Makerfield City's Rueben Hanson threw himself towards the right post 64 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dominic Kellaway, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martin Crichton got free with Rueben Hanson in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Dominic Kellaway kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rueben Hanson. That made the score 0-2 in the 67 minute of play. In the 70th minute, Rich Lister hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Martin Crichton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ashton-in-Makerfield City's supporters rose to their feet, but Martin Crichton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rueben Hanson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dominic Kellaway received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Rueben Hanson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Martin Crichton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 76th minute, Loyd Wilberforce hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Dominic Kellaway had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Martin Crichton came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Ashton-in-Makerfield City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Crichton couldn't finish the play. In the 85th minute, Dominic Kellaway hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alex Lineker charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alex Lineker the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Martin Crichton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rueben Hanson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dominic Kellaway went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. In the 95th minute, Ashton-in-Makerfield City's Martin Crichton dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. The Salford FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ashton-in-Makerfield City were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
