The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The crowd rose to their feet as Trey Griggs kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Derek Turner. That made the score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. 10 minutes into the match, Toby Hoult had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Derek Charles. Callington's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Toby Hoult was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. A collision led to Southwell getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Nick Waller hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Callington's Kirk Hopton tried to score from far away in the 16th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Trey Griggs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Trey Griggs in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Derek Turner prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Henry Wing's late challenge caught a Callington's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Callington fully deserved thier win.
