Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Trey Griggs made the kick off and thus started the match. Darryl Cheesman's late challenge caught a Callington's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Darryl Cheesman helped the player get up and apologised. Darryl Cheesman kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. If Francis Mabbutt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicholas Beech might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vic Johnston. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nicholas Beech ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trey Griggs in the 24th minute of play forced Fletching AFC's goalkeeper Vic Johnston to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Derek Charles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Fawcett, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After a rather tough play, Callington's Alf Fawell got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Denis Fawcett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Derek Charles having to interfere. After 37 minutes, Denis Fawcett made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Callington's Derek Charles tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Darryl Clark's late challenge caught a Fletching AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Callington's Derek Charles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francis Mabbutt in the 42nd minute of play. Nicholas Beech who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 47thth minute tested the skills of Vic Johnston when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Denis Fawcett was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fletching AFC's goalkeeper Vic Johnston, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Denis Fawcett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Derek Charles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Francis Mabbutt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th match minute, Fletching AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darryl Cheesman to maneuver through the defense. In the 72nd match minute, Fletching AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jo Watts to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francis Mabbutt got free with Derek Charles in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Denis Fawcett in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Derek Charles saved Callington from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Callington's zone, Denis Fawcett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Derek Charles came out of the goal and Denis Fawcett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Denis Fawcett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Fletching AFC's Darryl Cheesman got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Trey Griggs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vic Johnston having to interfere. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
