Barcelona's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gary Dixon ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Gary Dixon got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Henry Kenna quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Louie Byrne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 25 played minutes Barcelona got a freekick which was hit by Bill North. Graeme Reeve recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Liverpool FC. booed when Barcelona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rueben Albright didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35thth minute of the game Keith Crittenden who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Liverpool FC.'s Lance Beaumont was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Shane Manson kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Henry Kenna stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Graeme Reeve's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Henry Kenna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Graeme Reeve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Keith Crittenden was the one to do the kick off. When Pat Kershaw came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Barcelona fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pat Kershaw couldn't finish the play. Henry Kenna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Louie Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Pat Kershaw received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Lance Beaumont tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Louie Byrne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henry Kenna having to interfere. The Barcelona players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Liverpool FC. from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
