Seating: 1729, VIP seats: 150) 3 minutes into the match, Gaz Bowen notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Tottenham Hotspurs's John-Paul Gunn. John-Paul Gunn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 6 minutes, Larry Forrester managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Man City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Larry Forrester was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Stan Marriott's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but John-Paul Gunn was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. 9 minutes into the game, Gaz Bowen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. John-Paul Gunn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. John-Paul Gunn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaz Bowen, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Larry Forrester kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruce Starr in the 19th minute of play forced Man City's goalkeeper Ed Midson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 23 minutes of play, Man City's Stan Marriott made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. John-Paul Gunn was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Larry Forrester in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg John-Paul Gunn saved Tottenham Hotspurs from getting behind. 30 minutes into the match, Tottenham Hotspurs's goal looked a bit too open when Larry Forrester came free, but John-Paul Gunn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stan Marriott struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. John-Paul Gunn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Man City. After having played for 33 minutes, Robin Bator managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tottenham Hotspurs's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robin Bator was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 34 played minutes Man City got a freekick which was hit by Larry Forrester. 36 minutes into the match, Bruce Starr dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ed Midson, 1-3. Lawrence Piercy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaz Bowen in the 42nd minute of play forced Tottenham Hotspurs's goalkeeper John-Paul Gunn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Stan Marriott's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but John-Paul Gunn was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. John-Paul Gunn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stan Marriott in the 45th minute of the match. The supporters of Man City booed when Tottenham Hotspurs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mark Blowman didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Stan Marriott was the one to do the kick off. Man City's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Stan Marriott in the 53rd minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Tristram Fieldwick heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Gaz Bowen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Gunn having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Stan Marriott made a precise shot to the right of John-Paul Gunn. Tottenham Hotspurs's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. 66 minutes into the game, Gaz Bowen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. John-Paul Gunn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gaz Bowens short, quick shot in the 72ndth minute got John-Paul Gunn to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Gaz Bowen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. John-Paul Gunn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tottenham Hotspurs's goalkeeper John-Paul Gunn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Tottenham Hotspurs's John-Paul Gunn got control of the ball when Gaz Bowen tried to sneak it across the goal line. John-Paul Gunn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stan Marriott in the 81st minute of the match. John-Paul Gunn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stan Marriott, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Ed Midson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruce Starr in the 87th minute of play. Gaz Bowen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tottenham Hotspurs's John-Paul Gunn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stan Marriott in the 90th minute of play. Lawrence Piercy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. John-Paul Gunn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
