Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Keith Crittenden got the match started through his kick off. 0-1 became the score in the 4th minute when Keith Crittenden elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 13th minute Keith Crittenden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Griffin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute, John Paul Fielden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute, Pat Kershaw ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Peter Griffin was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Larry Bentley received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Henry Kenna came out and tried to block the shot, but Larry Bentley slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 18th minute. After having played for 23 minutes, Pat Kershaw managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barcelona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pat Kershaw was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Barcelona's Henry Kenna proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Barcelona from getting a goal against them. Barcelona's Henry Kenna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Larry Bentley in the 31st minute of play. Alf Lynam kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. When Larry Bentley came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Cove fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Larry Bentley couldn't finish the play. Colin Nethercoat struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Henry Kenna didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cove. Henry Kenna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Larry Bentley in the 40th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Keith Crittenden in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Peter Griffin saved Cove from getting behind. After the first half Barcelona were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Larry Bentley made the kick off in the second half. Barcelona's Keith Crittenden got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After recieving a nice pass, Cove's Jerome Darby tried to score from far away in the 57th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Barcelona's Bill North got a free kick in the 58th minute. Barcelona's Henry Kenna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Larry Bentley in the 60th minute of play. A collision led to Cove getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Larry Bentley hit a great ball. With his leg Peter Griffin managed to avoid a goal in the 63rdth minute, when Barcelona's Pat Kershaw fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 64thth minute of the game Keith Crittenden who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cove's Peter Griffin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Colin Nethercoat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henry Kenna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Larry Bentley in the 84th minute of play. With a little luck, Cove's Peter Griffin got control of the ball when Pat Kershaw tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Cove's Larry Bentley in 96 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Henry Kenna guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Barcelona had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
