Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kris Falkingham in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rex Forrest prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Greg Bridgeman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fred Meechan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Henry Morcom made a huge save. Tooting United's Henry Morcom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henry Ellerby in the 45th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

In the 52ndth minute of the game Kris Falkingham who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dunmow's Rex Forrest was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Greg Bridgeman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rex Forrest. That made the score 0-1 in the 55 minute of play. If Greg Bridgeman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henry Morcom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henry Ellerby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Barry Barber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Dunmow's zone, Greg Bridgeman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rex Forrest came out of the goal and Greg Bridgeman tried to chip the ball over his head.
