Spectators: 7519 (Terracing: 5640, Seating: 1729, VIP seats: 150) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Paul Armitage took the kick off in the first half of the match. Fred Meechan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th minute, Kris Swain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paul Armitage received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Rex Forrest tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rex Forrest made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ian Rowe in the 18th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Dunmow's zone, Ian Rowe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rex Forrest came out of the goal and Ian Rowe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fraser Philips stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fred Meechan's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Fraser Philips made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henry Ellerby in the 35th minute of play. Dunmow's Rex Forrest proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Dunmow from getting a goal against them. After having played for 48 minutes, Paul Armitage managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grim Reapers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paul Armitage was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

If Henry Ellerby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fraser Philips took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henry Ellerby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paul Armitage in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rex Forrest saved Dunmow from getting behind. 63 minutes into the match, Henry Ellerby had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fraser Philips. Grim Reapers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Henry Ellerby was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Samuel Denham recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice moves Fred Meechan could shoot a difficult shot in the 70th minute, which Fraser Philips however easily saved by the left post. Rex Forrest showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paul Armitage in the 73rd minute of the match. If Ian Rowe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fred Meechan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fraser Philips having to make a save. Austen Floyd kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Fraser Philips took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henry Ellerby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 95th match minute, Grim Reapers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Austen Floyd to maneuver through the defense. 96 minutes into the match, Gregory Grantham sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Fraser Philips threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Gregory Grantham this time. The Grim Reapers fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Dunmow were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
