Graham Ripley made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. When Christian Cornforth fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alnwick Town's protests and gave Christian Cornforth a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Alnwick Town getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Kev Williams hit a great ball. If Lance Robertson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Callum Goodall managed to get in a good position for a shot. Crooksville FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Callum Goodall was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Graham Ripley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

In the 52nd minute Connor Cardwell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Graham Ripley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bryan Higginson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 54th minute, Christian Cornforth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 59th minute Christian Cornforth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phil Duggan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Callum Goodall in the 66th minute of play forced Alnwick Town's goalkeeper Graham Ripley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Graham Ripley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Callum Goodall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 76th minute, Christian Cornforth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Callum Goodall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 93 minutes, Christian Cornforth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alnwick Town's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christian Cornforth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
