The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpected shot in the 7th minute by Thomas Boothroyd got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Thomas Boothroyd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Ron Moxey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Damion Foggarty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leo Hollingsworth kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Ron Moxey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Boothroyd in the 18th minute of play. Woodmancote United's Ron Moxey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Woodmancote United from getting a goal against them. Thomas Boothroyd scored 1-0 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ron Moxey, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 31 minutes into the match, Woodmancote United's goal looked a bit too open when Thomas Boothroyd came free, but Ron Moxey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leo Hollingsworth kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Woodmancote United's zone, Thomas Boothroyd stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ron Moxey came out of the goal and Thomas Boothroyd tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Woodmancote United booed when Alnwick was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garry Moxey didn't get a good kick on the ball. The attack was good, but when Dean Benbow in the 38th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. After 40 minutes, Kurt Buckle mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alnwick and the Woodmancote United players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Alnwick getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Kurt Buckle hit a great ball. Billie Gallagher, 41 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal.

Alnwick's Damion Foggarty got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thomas Boothroyd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ron Moxey having to interfere. In the 67th minute, Damion Foggarty made a precise shot to the right of Ron Moxey. Woodmancote United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Jordan Haywood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 78th match minute, Alnwick was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stew Bower to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 98th minute, Damion Foggarty managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alnwick's supporters rose to their feet, but Damion Foggarty was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ron Moxey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alnwick's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
