A collision led to Ashwell City getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Ted Goodman hit a great ball. Jonathan Mellon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Swaffham City's zone, Ruben Fry stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Huey Hamilton came out of the goal and Ruben Fry tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Ashwell City's Ruben Fry slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Huey Hamilton. That made the score 1-2 after 33 minutes of play. With a little luck, Swaffham City's Huey Hamilton got control of the ball when Ruben Fry tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Ashwell City getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Bryan Liddle hit a great ball. Swaffham City's Steven Foster got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Ashwell City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Swaffham City were winning 1-2.

The wind increased when Ruben Fry made the kick off in the second half. In a very dangerous position, a player in Swaffham City fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 58th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Ashwell City a penalty, 59 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ruben Fry, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Swaffham City's Huey Hamilton. 2-2. After a defensive mix-up in Ashwell City's zone, Shaun Cooper stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Mellon came out of the goal and Shaun Cooper tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mark Henman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Mellon having to interfere. In the 73rd match minute, Ashwell City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johnny Devaney to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Mellon made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Shaun Cooper sent off a good shot on target. In the 83rd minute, Swaffham City's Mark Henman ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Mellon. Jonathan Mellon yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. Thanks to some nice moves Shaun Cooper could shoot a difficult shot in the 90th minute, which Jonathan Mellon however easily saved by the left post. Ruben Fry struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Huey Hamilton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ashwell City. The Ashwell City fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Swaffham City were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
