Spectators: 7498 (Terracing: 5624, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 149) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Ruben Fry took the kick off in the first half of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dean Benbow got free with Jonathan Mellon in the 2nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Keith Blowman might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ron Moxey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Keith Blowman ran back to his position shaking his head. Danny McMahon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ron Moxey having to interfere. Dean Benbow came free with the goalkeeper in the 14th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jonathan Mellon could save by the left post. In the 16th minute, one of Ashwell City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ashwell City. In the 18th minute there was a penalty for Woodmancote United. Billie Gallagher stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jonathan Mellon. 1-0. When Thom Whitford fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ashwell City's protests and gave Thom Whitford a yellow card for diving instead. When the match had been going on for 26 minutes, Woodmancote United's Billie Gallagher got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jonathan Mellon. If Ruben Fry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alec Topham hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After 42 played minutes Ashwell City got a freekick which was hit by Danny McMahon. Ashwell City's Jonathan Mellon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jordan Haywood in the 48th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jordan Haywood was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jordan Haywood in the 54th minute of play forced Ashwell City's goalkeeper Jonathan Mellon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ruben Fry came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Ashwell City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ruben Fry couldn't finish the play. Ron Moxey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ruben Fry in the 61st minute. Jonathan Mellon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jordan Haywood in the 65th minute of play. Ruben Fry's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 71stth minute, Ron Moxey skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a rather tough play, Woodmancote United's Olly Faith got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Keith Blowman struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Ron Moxey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ashwell City. Alec Topham's late challenge caught a Ashwell City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alec Topham helped the player get up and apologised. In the 75th match minute, Woodmancote United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alec Topham to maneuver through the defense. Ron Moxey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ruben Fry in the 82nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jordan Haywood in the 90th minute of play forced Ashwell City's goalkeeper Jonathan Mellon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Mellon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jordan Haywood in the 92nd minute of play. Ashwell City's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
