Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ed Ambrose in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pierce Phippard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Calum Hall didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from John Hunter went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The supporters of Monkeys Village FC booed when Greenwood FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basil Boyes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 20 played minutes Monkeys Village FC got a freekick which was hit by Mick Hinshelwood. Gwyn Purkiss, 21 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Gez Townsley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Calum Hall tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 28 minutes, Matt Howarth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monkeys Village FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matt Howarth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ed Ambrose fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pierce Phippard having to interfere. Mick Hinshelwood's late challenge caught a Greenwood FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mick Hinshelwood helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Monkeys Village FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Mick Hinshelwood hit a great ball. Calum Hall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gez Townsley in the 34th minute of the match. Rob Forrest kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Greenwood FC's John Hunter got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Monkeys Village FC's zone, Gez Townsley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Calum Hall came out of the goal and Gez Townsley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jay Hedges during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jay Hedges hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ed Ambrose made a kick off. Matt Howarth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pierce Phippard having to interfere. Ed Ambrose received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Pierce Phippard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Ed Ambrose made a precise shot to the right of Pierce Phippard. Greenwood FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After a rather tough play, Greenwood FC's Basil Boyes got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Calum Hall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gez Townsley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ed Ambrose received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Pierce Phippard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th minute, Gez Townsley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 84 played minutes Greenwood FC got a freekick which was hit by Gwyn Purkiss. Monkeys Village FC's Lance Chambers couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 86th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Greenwood FC. Ed Ambrose sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
