Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Hugh Phippard got the match started through his kick off. After 2 played minutes Walthamstow City got a freekick which was hit by Laurence Coleman. Walthamstow City's Dale Folan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Walthamstow City from getting a goal against them. 5 minutes into the match, Walthamstow City's goalkeeper Dale Folan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Donald Clifton. In a very dangerous position, a player in Lindfield fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 11th minute. Penalty! Lindfield:s Wally Laverick showed great skill when he stopped Louie Basterfield:s penalty. In the 12th minute, Louie Basterfield ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wally Laverick was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Donald Clifton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dale Folan having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Walthamstow City's Lewis Smith got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Walthamstow City's Dale Folan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Snowden in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Curtis Gayle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Walthamstow City's Dale Folan got control of the ball when Donald Clifton tried to sneak it across the goal line. 28 minutes in the game, Damian Snowden fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Dale Folan having to interfere. If Donald Clifton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Lindfield's Jay Saxton got a free kick in the 32nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugh Phippard in the 33rd minute of play forced Lindfield's goalkeeper Wally Laverick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 34 played minutes Walthamstow City got a freekick which was hit by Dan Waite. After 38 played minutes Lindfield got a freekick which was hit by Donald Clifton. Iain Milton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Lindfield players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Walthamstow City were winning 0-1.
The wind increased when Damian Snowden made the kick off in the second half. Wally Laverick had great luck who in the 54thth minute grab hold of the ball when Curtis Gayle from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Lindfield's Donald Clifton got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hugh Phippard was extremely unlucky when he, in the 64th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Dale Folan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Snowden, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Wally Laverick made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iain Milton in the 81st minute. Donald Clifton struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Dale Folan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lindfield. Wally Laverick stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hugh Phippard's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Donald Clifton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Walthamstow City getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Laurence Coleman hit a great ball. Iain Milton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Wally Laverick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 95th minute, Walthamstow City's Dan Waite ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Wally Laverick. Wally Laverick yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Iain Milton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wally Laverick having to interfere. The Lindfield fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Walthamstow City were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
