Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Hugh Phippard got the match started through his kick off. In the 4th minute, Laurence Chiverton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hugh Phippard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvester Robson having to interfere. When Iain Milton came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Walthamstow City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iain Milton couldn't finish the play. The nice shot from Iain Milton in the 13thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Silvester Robson had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. A collision led to Gillingham getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Gwyn Frost hit a great ball. Dale Folan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rupert Dunne's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. After 30 played minutes Walthamstow City got a freekick which was hit by Louie Basterfield. Laurence Chiverton took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dale Folan. Dale Folan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. If Iain Milton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvester Robson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iain Milton in the 41st minute. Keiran Pitman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvester Robson having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Laurence Chiverton was the one to do the kick off. Dale Folan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rupert Dunne in the 54th minute. Laurence Chiverton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dale Folan having to interfere. Noel Haseldine's late challenge caught a Walthamstow City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Noel Haseldine helped the player get up and apologised. In the 78th minute, Noel Haseldine hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silvester Robson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Iain Milton's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. In the 86th match minute, Walthamstow City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dan Waite to maneuver through the defense. Silvester Robson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iain Milton in the 89th minute of the match. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Gillingham had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
