Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Damian Snowden made the kick off and thus started the match. Damian Snowden recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With his leg Denis Rothwell managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Lindfield's Donald Clifton fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Damian Snowden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 19 minutes into the match, Lindfield's goal looked a bit too open when Bradley Welch came free, but Wally Laverick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Verne Ryder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wally Laverick having to interfere. A collision led to Lindfield getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Rory Pope hit a great ball. In the 29th minute, Damien Farrell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30th minute, Trevor McDonald sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Congleton's Denis Rothwell didn't even have to move. 31 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Lindfield's Damian Snowden fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Donald Cliftons short, quick shot in the 33rdth minute got Denis Rothwell to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 36thth minute of the game Damian Snowden who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Congleton's Denis Rothwell was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Denis Rothwell made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donald Clifton in the 43rd minute. Carlton Lambert hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Bradley Welch managed to get in a good position for a shot. Congleton's supporters rose to their feet, but Bradley Welch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wally Laverick breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Donald Clifton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denis Rothwell having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Congleton's Denis Rothwell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Snowden in the 55th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Donald Clifton in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Denis Rothwell prevented the ball from getting in the gole. George Cummins hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Denis Rothwell came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Lindfield's Donald Clifton. But to his dismay, Donald Clifton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 73rd minute, Billie Blakewell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th minute Donald Clifton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denis Rothwell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tosh Blackley hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Nial Dines kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Damian Snowden managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lindfield's supporters rose to their feet, but Damian Snowden was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Denis Rothwell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee ended the match the Lindfield players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
