Rodd Rawlings showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stuart Bartlett, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 17th minute Stuart Bartlett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodd Rawlings saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Damon Hart fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodd Rawlings having to interfere. If Damon Hart had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Stuart Bartlett might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rodd Rawlings. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stuart Bartlett ran back to his position shaking his head. When Damon Hart came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Hawkstone United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damon Hart couldn't finish the play. Damon Hart fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodd Rawlings having to interfere. When Hawkstone United's Stuart Bartlett in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ossett United's goalie prevented a goal. Damon Hart's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Rodd Rawlings firmly grabbed it by the left post. 39 minutes into the match, Ossett United's goal looked a bit too open when Stuart Bartlett came free, but Rodd Rawlings reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Damon Hart might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rodd Rawlings. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Damon Hart ran back to his position shaking his head. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Stuart Bartlett made the kick off in the second half. Theo Billington received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Glyn Conway tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56thth minute of the game Stuart Bartlett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ossett United's Rodd Rawlings was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 64th minute, Theo Billington left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ossett United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mike Westwood in the 68th minute of play forced Hawkstone United's goalkeeper Glyn Conway to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Damon Hart struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Rodd Rawlings didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hawkstone United. Eddie Norton scored 1-1 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rodd Rawlings, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 78th minute, Damon Hart left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hawkstone United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After 81 played minutes Hawkstone United got a freekick which was hit by Damon Hart. If Mike Westwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. During the 85th minute of the match Kasey Meadowcroft completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Kasey Meadowcroft a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Ossett United booed when Hawkstone United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kasey Meadowcroft didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eddie Norton kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. The long shot by Malcolm Halliwell in the 88th minute really tested Glyn Conway's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Rodd Rawlings took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damon Hart, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 93rd minute, Hawkstone United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Theo Billington fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Mike Westwood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ossett United's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
