Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Achilles FC's Vic Edwards started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Vic Edwards shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Spink saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bob Mason charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bob Mason the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 4th minute, Bob Mason hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basil Hamer got free with Harvey Sheene in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Syd Price had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Huey Birch's late challenge caught a Sutton Valence City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Huey Birch helped the player get up and apologised. In the 20th minute, Ricky Newton fired a really elegant long shot, but Harvey Sheene threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Vic Edwards received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. William Spink tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Bob Mason managed to get in a good position for a shot. Achilles FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Bob Mason was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. William Spink breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Harvey Sheene showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Syd Price in the 33rd minute of the match. Vic Edwards fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without William Spink having to interfere. Harvey Sheene made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Syd Price in the 42nd minute of play. William Spink made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bob Mason in the 45th minute of play. After having played for 48 minutes, Bob Mason managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Achilles FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bob Mason was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Syd Price made a kick off. Paul Scorfield kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. If Syd Price had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Basil Hamer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harvey Sheene having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Syd Price left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sutton Valence City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Harvey Sheene showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Syd Price, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. If Vic Edwards had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Harvey Sheene made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basil Hamer in the 82nd minute of play. Vic Edwards recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 86th minute, one of Sutton Valence City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sutton Valence City. William Spink made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vic Edwards in the 91st minute of play. Vic Edwards fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without William Spink having to interfere. Syd Price fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harvey Sheene having to interfere.
