The crowd rose to their feet as Seaham FC's Nial Wilmott slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of William Spink. That made the score 1-0 after 9 minutes of play. Basil Hamer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Shane Litchfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Basil Hamer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shane Litchfield having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Basil Hamer notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Seaham FC's Shane Litchfield. Shane Litchfield was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Shane Litchfield took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Syd Price, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Shane Litchfield showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Syd Price, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Syd Price took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Shane Litchfield. Shane Litchfield dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Christopher Douglas struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. William Spink didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Seaham FC. Sutton Valence City's William Spink proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Sutton Valence City from getting a goal against them. Christopher Douglas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without William Spink having to interfere. Duncan Higgins made a great header on Seaham FC's corner, it was just that Sutton Valence City's William Spink managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 49th match minute Duncan Higgins ran free in the middle of the field and shot a long shot which scored behind a totally surprised William Spink. 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

William Spink made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christopher Douglas in the 65th minute of play. Stan Burbeary charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stan Burbeary the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Stan Burbeary hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Seaham FC's goalkeeper Shane Litchfield, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 74th minute Christopher Douglas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Spink saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Syd Price came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Sutton Valence City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Syd Price couldn't finish the play. A hard shot 89 in the game by Basil Hamer from a close distance when the talented Shane Litchfield managed to make a qualified save. Seaham FC's players were relieved. Syd Price sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 93rd minute, Basil Hamer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Shane Litchfield was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Basil Hamer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shane Litchfield having to interfere. In the 99th minute Syd Price shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shane Litchfield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sutton Valence City's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
