After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Hugh Goodall managed to get in a good position for a shot. Radcliffe-on-Trent's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugh Goodall was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robbie Laverick breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hugh Goodall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Radcliffe-on-Trent getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Hugh Goodall hit a great ball. Thame's Robbie Laverick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugh Goodall in the 22nd minute of play. 23 minutes into the game, Leigh Delamore was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Thame's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Radcliffe-on-Trent the free kick. Robbie Laverick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wes Bishop, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Robbie Laverick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugh Goodall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 41st minute Hugh Goodall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robbie Laverick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Thame's zone, Wes Bishop stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robbie Laverick came out of the goal and Wes Bishop tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 47th minute, Wes Bishop left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Radcliffe-on-Trent fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After the first half Radcliffe-on-Trent were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Verne Wadham to strike the kick off in the second half. Robbie Laverick acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 60th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Matthew Shakespeare. Hugh Goodall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Robbie Laverick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 63 minutes into the match, Thame's goal looked a bit too open when Wes Bishop came free, but Robbie Laverick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hugh Goodall struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Robbie Laverick didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Radcliffe-on-Trent. In the 66th minute, Phillip Kerridge hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Robbie Laverick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wes Bishop, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hugh Goodall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 72 minutes, Wes Bishop managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Radcliffe-on-Trent's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wes Bishop was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 84th minute Radcliffe-on-Trent were awarded a corner. Keith Beavan went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Steven Sharples managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. If Wes Bishop had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hugh Goodall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Robbie Laverick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hugh Goodall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robbie Laverick having to interfere. When Caleb Trotter fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Radcliffe-on-Trent's protests and gave Caleb Trotter a yellow card for diving instead. In the 93rd match minute, Radcliffe-on-Trent was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caleb Trotter to maneuver through the defense.
