Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Marty West started the match with the kick off. A hard shot 3 in the game by Jez Wallbank from a close distance when the talented Sean Drysdale managed to make a qualified save. Stone's players were relieved. Luke Rockett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Ivan Le Tissier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th minute, Deon Snowden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ivan Le Tissier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luke Rockett in the 13th minute of play. 13 minutes into the game, Luke Rockett cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ivan Le Tissier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ivan Le Tissier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luke Rockett in the 16th minute of the match. 23 minutes into the match, Al Woodman had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivan Le Tissier. Battle AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Al Woodman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. With a little luck, Stone's Sean Drysdale got control of the ball when Jez Wallbank tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nial Reid charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nial Reid the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nial Reid kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. 46 minutes into the game, Dominic Parsons was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Battle AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stone the free kick. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luke Rockett to strike the kick off in the second half. When Stone's Luke Rockett in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Battle AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Sean Drysdale came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Battle AFC's Marty West. But to his dismay, Marty West quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Battle AFC's Jez Wallbank got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 76 minutes, Marty West mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Battle AFC and the Stone players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marty West kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. The supporters of Stone booed when Battle AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Verne Garnett didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Damien Hendley came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Stone fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damien Hendley couldn't finish the play. In the 85th minute, Al Woodman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Battle AFC's zone, Luke Rockett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivan Le Tissier came out of the goal and Luke Rockett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luke Rockett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ivan Le Tissier read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. Luke Rockett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Battle AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Stone's performance. The match ended with a win for Stone.
