Danny Lynam's late challenge caught a Radcliffe-on-Trent's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Danny Lynam helped the player get up and apologised. In the 3rd match minute, Battle AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danny Lynam to maneuver through the defense. Marty West hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Hugh Goodall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Le Tissier having to interfere. Dylan Bonham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jez Wallbank, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marty West in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dylan Bonham saved Radcliffe-on-Trent from getting behind. Wes Bishop's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ivan Le Tissier read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Wes Bishop sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nath Tyson during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Radcliffe-on-Trent booed when Battle AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nath Tyson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gav Ward kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 43rd minute of the game. One of Radcliffe-on-Trent:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Battle AFC:s goal. Hugh Goodall could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Ivan Le Tissier made a huge save. After the first half Battle AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Marty West made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Jez Wallbank managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Battle AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jez Wallbank was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Wes Bishop put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Ivan Le Tissier. Radcliffe-on-Trent's Dylan Bonham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marty West in the 64th minute of play. The Radcliffe-on-Trent fans' excitement grew in the 67th match minute when Radcliffe-on-Trent's Hugh Goodall looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Battle AFC getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Verne Garnett hit a great ball. After 74 played minutes Radcliffe-on-Trent got a freekick which was hit by Steven Sharples. Dylan Bonham showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marty West in the 75th minute of the match. 86 minutes into the match, Radcliffe-on-Trent's goalkeeper Dylan Bonham had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jez Wallbank. Steven Sharples hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Jez Wallbank could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Dylan Bonham made a huge save. A collision led to Radcliffe-on-Trent getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Steven Sharples hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Battle AFC's Marty West slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dylan Bonham. That made the score 2-3 after 91 minutes of play. After 94 played minutes Radcliffe-on-Trent got a freekick which was hit by Wes Bishop.
