Spectators: 7502 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1727, VIP seats: 150) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Rex Lowe kicked off to start the match. Denis Gerrard's late challenge caught a Polzeath City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 5th match minute, Long Crendon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doug Midgley to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Polzeath City's Mitch Sherman tried to score from far away in the 6th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The goalkeeper, Warren Barltrop, was totally fooled by Polzeath City's Mitch Sherman, who 9 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After 12 played minutes Rex Lowe rounded Long Crendon's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. After having played for 18 minutes, Vern Ward managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Long Crendon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vern Ward was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fraser Tisdale charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fraser Tisdale the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Long Crendon booed when Polzeath City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fraser Tisdale didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vern Hayes in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joe Sugden saved Polzeath City from getting behind. Vern Hayes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Long Crendon's Vern Hayes in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vern Hayes made a kick off. Joe Sugden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vern Hayes in the 52nd minute of play. Vern Hayes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joe Sugden having to interfere. If Vern Ward had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Vern Hayes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joe Sugden was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. The Long Crendon fans' excitement grew in the 59th match minute when Long Crendon's Vern Hayes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Vern Ward received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Joe Sugden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Vern Ward had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute, Doug Midgley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stuart Hickson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joe Sugden made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vern Ward in the 72nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Vern Ward managed to get in a good position for a shot. Long Crendon's supporters rose to their feet, but Vern Ward was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joe Sugden breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 85 minutes into the match, Polzeath City's goalkeeper Joe Sugden had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vern Ward. In the 87th minute, Peter Steel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89th minute, Long Crendon's Vern Hayes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Joe Sugden. Joe Sugden yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. Vern Hayes was extremely unlucky when he, in the 96th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Long Crendon were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Polzeath City to leave the ground with a draw.
