Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tristram Lister in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jim Castledine prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Tristram Lister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Heywood's goalkeeper Jim Castledine, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Christopher Purvis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Tristram Lister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christopher Purvis scored 1-0 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jim Castledine, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Teddy Tully showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shane Wicks, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Teddy Tully came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Heywood's Shane Wicks. But to his dismay, Shane Wicks quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 41 minutes into the match, AFC Chiron's Christopher Purvis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jim Castledine narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When AFC Chiron's Christopher Purvis in 44 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Jim Castledine guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. After a rather tough play, AFC Chiron's Rueben Stobbs got a free kick in the 46th minute. The Heywood fans' excitement grew in the 48th match minute when Heywood's Calvin Barrett looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The AFC Chiron players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Heywood were winning 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Calvin Barrett made a kick off. Jim Castledine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christopher Purvis in the 60th minute of play. Tristram Lister struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Jim Castledine didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFC Chiron. After a rather tough play, Heywood's Joel Howson got a free kick in the 63rd minute. AFC Chiron's Kyle Merris couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 64th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Heywood. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Heywood's goalkeeper Jim Castledine, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Christopher Purvis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jim Castledine having to interfere. The supporters of AFC Chiron booed when Heywood was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francis Hassell didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tristram Lister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Shane Wicks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Calvin Barrett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jim Castledine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tristram Lister in the 89th minute of play. Tristram Lister sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Christopher Purvis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Jim Castledine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Heywood were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over AFC Chiron's much stronger midfield.
