In the 4th minute of the match Wally Lynch sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jim Castledine skillfully saved the ball. Joel Howson's late challenge caught a Redruth AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joel Howson helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Heywood's Joel Howson got a free kick in the 7th minute. Jim Castledine made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Johnathan Mann sent off a good shot on target. Johnathan Mann's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 10thth minute, Jim Castledine skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Francis Hassell charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Francis Hassell the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Heywood's Jim Castledine played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laurence Brownlow in the 21st minute of play. A collision led to Redruth AFC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Marcus Coote hit a great ball. Laurence Brownlow sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Redruth AFC's Johnathan Mann got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Heywood's Joel Howson got his second yellow card of the match in the 30th minute. The referee ordered Joel Howson off the ground. Redruth AFC's Cliff Heywood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shane Wicks in the 34th minute of play. Johnathan Mann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Jim Castledine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Johnathan Mann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Laurence Brownlow didn't have the luck on his side when he, from a short distance, got a opportunity for a shot on goal in the 40th minute. The shot missed the goal on the right side and Laurence Brownlow ran dejectedly back to his position. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Heywood's goalkeeper Jim Castledine, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Johnathan Manns short, quick shot in the 48thth minute got Jim Castledine to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Laurence Brownlow was the one to do the kick off. Redruth AFC's Cliff Heywood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calvin Barrett in the 56th minute of play. Jim Castledine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johnathan Mann in the 59th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Heywood's zone, Laurence Brownlow stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jim Castledine came out of the goal and Laurence Brownlow tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 64th minute, John Nelson had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Wally Cross charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Wally Cross the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Heywood getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Wally Cross hit a great ball. Heywood's Jim Castledine played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcus Coote in the 68th minute of play. Wally Cross was shown his second yellow card after 68 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 69th match minute, Heywood was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wally Cross to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute, Johnathan Mann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 72nd minute, Colin Mayall got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 74th minute, Johnathan Mann made a precise shot to the right of Jim Castledine. Heywood's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. A collision led to Heywood getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Calvin Barrett hit a great ball. Redruth AFC's Wally Lynch couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 78th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Heywood. Jim Castledine took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurence Brownlow, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes into the match, Redruth AFC's Laurence Brownlow sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jim Castledine narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Johnathan Mann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Shane Blake received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Jim Castledine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 93 minutes into the game, Redruth AFC's Johnathan Mann nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jim Castledine made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. There was no doubt that Redruth AFC were the better team. Redruth AFC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
