Thurmaston City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Johnathan Mann was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Jonathon Barnes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurence Brownlow, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the game, Marcus Coote cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Devon Chiverton to make the kick off. Devon Chiverton scored 1-2 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cliff Heywood, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 60 minutes into the game, one of Thurmaston City:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Jonathon Barnes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laurence Brownlow, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. When Laurence Brownlow came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Redruth AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laurence Brownlow couldn't finish the play. 76 minutes into the match, Thurmaston City's goal looked a bit too open when Laurence Brownlow came free, but Jonathon Barnes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Redruth AFC played a much better game than Thurmaston City and deserved their victory. The Thurmaston City players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
