An unexpectedly hard shot by Ed Osborn in the 9th minute of play forced Folkestone AFC's goalkeeper Gerry West to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 10 minutes, Byron Hamilton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maylandsea's supporters crossed their fingers, but Byron Hamilton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 11th minute Ed Osborn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerry West saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Ed Osborn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maylandsea's supporters rose to their feet, but Ed Osborn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerry West breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Folkestone AFC's zone, Ed Osborn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerry West came out of the goal and Ed Osborn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Byron Hamilton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maylandsea's supporters rose to their feet, but Byron Hamilton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerry West breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 18 played minutes Folkestone AFC got a freekick which was hit by Leon Herring. Ed Osborn struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. The audience was convinced that Ed Osborn's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gerry West was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Maylandsea's Leon Brook played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jake Noble in the 26th minute of play. If Ed Osborn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodney Horsell got free with Leon Brook in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kristopher Fieldwick during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Maylandsea getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Kristopher Fieldwick hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ed Osborn in the 43rd minute of play forced Folkestone AFC's goalkeeper Gerry West to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gerry West showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ed Osborn, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Rodney Horsell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Leon Brook tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Gerry West made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ed Osborn got free with Gerry West in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Byron Hamilton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 84th minute, Maylandsea's Kristopher Fieldwick seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Kristopher Fieldwick the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Maylandsea protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Kristopher Fieldwick had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. A collision led to Maylandsea getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Kristopher Fieldwick hit a great ball. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 89th minute, Stewart Bowland made a precise shot to the right of Leon Brook. Maylandsea's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Byron Hamilton's late challenge caught a Folkestone AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Byron Hamilton helped the player get up and apologised. Byron Hamilton kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Maylandsea played a much better game than Folkestone AFC and deserved their victory. The Folkestone AFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
