The Woodley United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcus Sheene should have stopped the shot. In the 22nd minute, Alan Munday ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcus Sheene was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alan Munday in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcus Sheene saved Woodley United from getting behind. After having played for 31 minutes, Alan Munday managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ilkley City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alan Munday was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alan Munday sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcus Sheene showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alan Munday, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. If Andrew Cookson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Andrew Cookson was the one to do the kick off. Liam Wright fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodd York having to interfere. Alan Munday received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Marcus Sheene tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 59 minutes into the game, Hayden Wood was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ilkley City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Woodley United the free kick. Hayden Wood kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Marcus Sheene made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrew Cookson in the 61st minute of play. With his leg Marcus Sheene managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Ilkley City's Alan Munday fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Alan Munday received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Marcus Sheene tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ilkley City's Alan Munday got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After recieving a nice pass, Ilkley City's Charles Hickson tried to score from far away in the 77th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. But to his dismay, Alan Munday quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. When the final whistle sounded Ilkley City left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Woodley United.
