In the 7th match minute, Greenwich was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rod Cardwell to maneuver through the defense. If Rich Dwyer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Greenwich's zone, Rich Dwyer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johnathan Pritchard came out of the goal and Rich Dwyer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. manchester united's Eric Deighton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grant Davies in the 19th minute of play. Eric Deighton came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Greenwich's Grant Davies. But to his dismay, Grant Davies quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Joel Marsden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Johnathan Pritchard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Grant Davies had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Ashley Joy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Greenwich's Brendon Bartram got a free kick in the 30th minute. When Travis Challis fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored manchester united's protests and gave Travis Challis a yellow card for diving instead. After 32 played minutes manchester united got a freekick which was hit by Travis Challis. Grant Davies received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Eric Deighton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rich Dwyer got free with Johnathan Pritchard in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Greenwich's Johnathan Pritchard got control of the ball when Rich Dwyer tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Grant Davies in the 48th minute of play forced manchester united's goalkeeper Eric Deighton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 55th minute, Rich Dwyer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eric Deighton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Grant Davies in the 58th minute. Grant Davies came free with the goalkeeper in the 82nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Eric Deighton could save by the left post. During the 88th minute of the match Travis Challis completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Travis Challis a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Greenwich booed when manchester united was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Travis Challis didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rd minute, Rich Dwyer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. manchester united's Mark Dennison got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Greenwich getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Brendon Bartram hit a great ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Greenwich walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
