When Timothy Brent fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored carrick red star's protests and gave Timothy Brent a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd match minute, carrick red star was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timothy Brent to maneuver through the defense. Matt Turner could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Liam Bolton made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matt Turner got free with Liam Bolton in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jo Knightley might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Liam Bolton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jo Knightley ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 17th minute, Teddy Bowden got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Teddy Bowden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Liam Bolton having to interfere. carrick red star's Liam Bolton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teddy Bowden in the 28th minute of play. Ronny Graves hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Liam Bolton was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Drew Prior. Darius Strongman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Charlie Crooks's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. 43 minutes into the match, carrick red star's Charlie Crooks sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Darius Strongman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Liam Bolton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teddy Bowden in the 45th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Teddy Bowden made the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as carrick red star's Charlie Crooks slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Darius Strongman. That made the score 1-1 after 52 minutes of play. In the 55th minute Matt Turner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Liam Bolton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Charlie Crooks blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Darius Strongman having to make a save. 61 minutes into the game, Teddy Bowden cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Liam Bolton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 71 minutes, Charlie Crooks managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. carrick red star's supporters crossed their fingers, but Charlie Crooks was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Timothy Brent recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 75 minutes into the game, Howard Rain was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Skelmersdale City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave carrick red star the free kick. carrick red star's Leon Parkin was substituted for Timothy Brent. Howard Rain hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Orson Hyde recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Orson Hyde fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darius Strongman having to interfere. After 81 played minutes carrick red star got a freekick which was hit by Charlie Crooks. If Teddy Bowden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Vinnie Bayne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 94th minute, carrick red star's Vinnie Bayne seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Vinnie Bayne the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of carrick red star protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Vinnie Bayne had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 93rd minute of the game. One of carrick red star:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Skelmersdale City:s goal. Drew Prior shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 99th minute, Leon Parkin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Liam Bolton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matt Turner, who was totally free with the ball in the 101st minute. carrick red star's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
