After 9 played minutes Christian Gibbs rounded Stevenage's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Christian Gibbs during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Stan Mallon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Steven Cotton went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. If Lewis Radcliffe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Stevenage's Steven Cotton in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Saltash's goalie prevented a goal. George Kershaw came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Saltash's Tommy Jeffrey. But to his dismay, Tommy Jeffrey quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Steven Cotton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stan Mallon having to interfere. A collision led to Stevenage getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Alec Hinchcliffe hit a great ball. A collision led to Stevenage getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Eric Nightingale hit a great ball. Saltash's Benji Cooper shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 33rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by George Kershaw but with some difficulty. In the 38th minute Lewis Radcliffe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stan Mallon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Saltash's Stan Mallon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lewis Radcliffe in the 43rd minute of play. George Kershaw showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Gibbs in the 45th minute of the match.

If Christian Gibbs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. George Kershaw took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy Jeffrey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Christian Gibbs in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg George Kershaw saved Stevenage from getting behind. In the 62nd minute Tommy Jeffrey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Kershaw saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christian Gibbs took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised George Kershaw. George Kershaw dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. George Kershaw didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tommy Jeffrey went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. If Tommy Jeffrey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 75thth minute of the game Christian Gibbs who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stevenage's George Kershaw was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 79th minute of the match Michael Tolley shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Stan Mallon showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Christian Gibbs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Kershaw having to interfere. After 91 minutes, Samuel Lynch mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stevenage and the Saltash players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Saltash booed when Stevenage was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Lynch didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Saltash's goalkeeper Stan Mallon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Stevenage's Lewis Radcliffe got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. For all the effort they put into the match, the Stevenage players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Saltash.
