Seating: 1610, VIP seats: 140) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Jonathon Cole kicked off to start the match. The supporters of Long Hanborough booed when Stevenage was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stevie Kennedy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Long Hanborough's zone, Steven Cotton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. In the 18th match minute, Stevenage was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Steven Cotton to maneuver through the defense. 18 minutes into the match, Stevenage's goal looked a bit too open when Damon Chipperfield came free, but George Kershaw reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. George Kershaw took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damon Chipperfield, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Steven Cotton could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Denny Bennet made a huge save. A collision led to Long Hanborough getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Leo Welch hit a great ball. Steven Cotton struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Denny Bennet didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stevenage. Stevenage's Lewis Radcliffe got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonathon Cole sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Damon Chipperfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Kershaw having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Damon Chipperfield had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of George Kershaw. Stevenage's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Damon Chipperfield was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2.
The wind increased when Lewis Radcliffe made the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Stevenage got a freekick which was hit by Stevie Kennedy. George Kershaw showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathon Cole, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Damon Chipperfield during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Stevenage's George Kershaw played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathon Cole in the 68th minute of play. After 72 minutes of play, Long Hanborough's Damon Chipperfield made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. With his leg George Kershaw managed to avoid a goal in the 81stth minute, when Long Hanborough's Damon Chipperfield fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The referee showed Lewis Radcliffe the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Eric Nightingale fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stevenage's protests and gave Eric Nightingale a yellow card for diving instead. In the 88th minute, Eric Nightingale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 88 minutes into the match, Long Hanborough's Victor Key broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Jeremy Weston hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match.
